Online Consultation Fees

scroll down for fees for Sydney in-person consultation fees

The following fees are in Australian dollars. However I accept payment in a range of currencies including US dollars, British pounds, Euro, Canadian dollars, Japanese Yen and Swiss Francs. Contact me for current equivalent conversion rates.

For in-person consultations, the fees per hour are:

  • Single Skype / phone sessions: $190
  • Package of 5 sessions for the cost of 4: $760 (i.e. $152 per session)*
* Available only when the sessions are paid upfront as a package. For the initial session, you are welcome to book at the single session fee and then, if you want to continue, just pay the balance of the package fee for a reduced rate.

Australians covered by Medicare may be able to claim back a benefit for webcam ‘focussed psychological strategies’ consultations if they reside outside metropolitan regions in areas 4-7 on this map and they are referred by a GP under the ‘Better Access’ provisions. The package rate does not apply in this case. Contact me for more information.

For online consultations, we agree on the type of service and then you pay prior to the session. You can pay with a credit card using an invoice I will send you or, if you have an Australian bank account, by bank transfer. I will send you details of how to prepare for a webcam or phone appointment.

In-Person Consultation Fees

If you are covered by Australian Medicare, appointments in-person qualify for a Medicare benefit of $74.80 when you have been referred by a GP under the Better Access provisions.

For in-person consultations, the fees per hour are:

  • Before 5pm weekdays: $190 ($115.20 after Medicare benefit)
  • After 5pm / weekends: $210 ($135.20 after Medicare benefit)

If you want to claim the Medicare benefit and are eligible, you will need to bring a GP referral letter, addressed to me, to the initial appointment or email it to me in advance. This benefit is generally available for up to 10 consultations in a calendar year provided it hasn’t already been paid to you towards the cost of services with another psychology practitioner.

Australian Private Health Fund Benefits

Teachers Health Fund and their associated funds (including UniHealth and Nurses and Midwives Health) will provide benefits for in-person psychology consultations where the member has top extras cover. The benefit paid for the initial consultation is $100 and for subsequent consultations it is $72. The yearly limit for psychology claims is $600 per person.

Prior to the first appointment, I ask for a $60 deposit to confirm the first session time. After the appointment, you pay the balance of the session fee and then claim back the Medicare benefit or health fund benefit if eligible.
